Developers can select different target versions for their apps like

  • Windows 10 Anniversary Edition (10.0; Build 14393)
  • Windows 10 Creators Update (10.0; Build 15063)
  • Windows 10 Fall Creators Update (10.0; Build 16299)

As a consumer, what's the highest version I can install on my phone? AFAIK apps targeting Fall Creators Update won't (ever) work on current phones, right?

  • I believe you're correct - Windows 10 Mobile 1709 (FCU) is on build 15254, so presumably apps targetting 16299 wouldn't run. – Indrek Mar 20 '18 at 11:48
