You can record sound inside the preinstalled OneNote app. If you need to you can sync the recording to your PC using the OneNote desktop application and save it there (right click -> save as...).
Windows 10 for phones will actually include a dedicated sound recording app.
According to this Microsoft support article Lumia phones support the AHJ standard, except the Lumia 920 and 820 which also support OMTP.
The article makes no mention of newer models, so I pinged @LumiaHelp on Twitter to check if it's still up-to-date. They confirmed that it is, and that the Lumia 950 supports AHJ headsets.
(Update: unfortunately the @...
Unfortunately it's currently not possible to use your phone as a simple playing device using wifi or Bluetooth.
Here are a two things you can try:
Stream files from your PC to your phone:
This can be done for example using one of the DLNA / UPNP players (e.g. Smart Player) in the store. Or even complete streaming solutions like Plex.
Or use one of the ...
This is finally possible (see UserVoice update here). Just add your audio file (<30k) to the Ringtones folder on your device.
It should now show up under the Custom section when selecting your new notification sound.
I am no expert on my lumia 610 using windows 7.8 but i do listen to a lot of audiobooks and I can tell you is as long as I listen to only one file I can stop it and resume it as often as I like without losing my place, but do remember that to listen to audiobooks on a windows phone you have to convert m4b files to mp3 as the m4b is an itunes format and is ...
But you can download the received audio files to your computer with the help of WhatsApp Web.

The recordig is being saved within your OneNote document so there's no way to access it through the file explorer (neither on the phone nor when conencting it to the pc).

This is a general behavior.
When the app runs under a locked screen, it could consume power outside of the user's control and could add to their data costs without their awareness. So the app must remain idle while the phone screen is locked. And that is why we see "Resuming..." when we lock the phone while using an app(i.e. WhatsApp, WeChat, Voxer, etc.) ...
Do not reset your phone! This warning will ALWAYS show up as far as I'm aware. It seems to not happen so often anymore after the WP8.1 update. Also, if you do not restart your phone very often, it should not happen as much. It seems to just happen a few times after startup.
The Voice Recorder app in Windows 10 Mobile does not allow recording while the phone is locked. It pauses the recording. Currently I don't know of any apps that will allow you to do this, though I will try to look into the API's and see if it's possible, and update this answer to include that.
The first thing to check would be if your phone manufacturer even claims to have included aptX support.
I'm not seeing anything about it on GSM Arena, though they do mention it for other phones that have it: http://www.gsmarena.com/nokia_lumia_820-4968.php
And on the aptX website the only Lumia listed is the 630: https://www.aptx.com/products?...

Currently it is possible to receive/send audio clips on Whatsapp. If the audio clip is an uploaded file (such as mp3 song) then it will be saved in SDcard/Phone -> Pictures -> Whatsapp. You can also find it in Music player. The name of the file usually starts with "AUD" followed by date and time.
Any recordings made from the Whatsapp will be saved in SDcard/...
In oder to get podcasts into your podcast app you actually have to subscribe to one, either by searching our by entering a feed.
You still can listen to the mp3s though the music app.
It might be easier though to try one of the audio book apps from the store - I think those offer the functionality you're looking for.
