Microsoft will start rolling out Windows 10 Mobile updates to current phones in December. The Lumia 1520 is not yet on the list of devices that will get the update first, but I assume it will follow shortly after as it is quite similar in hardware to the Lumia 930.

Suggestion: Go to back-up and check your last back-up. If your last Back-up time Was showing before deleting text time, then you can. and also check text back-up too.

The SIM PIN screen is currently broken. So far the only fix I've found, is to remove the PIN code altogether. You can bypass the SIM screen by pressing the "back" button when you start up the phone.
