Note: The answer below assumes you're using the Nokia Camera app. Most of it should also apply to the regular Camera app, except the part about manual focus controls. Tapping on the screen selects that point of the scene for automatic focus and exposure adjustment - the camera app will make sure the point you tapped is in focus and properly exposed (i.e. ...

You can record sound inside the preinstalled OneNote app. If you need to you can sync the recording to your PC using the OneNote desktop application and save it there (right click -> save as...). Windows 10 for phones will actually include a dedicated sound recording app.

With no apps are running, the Windows Phone OS uses "some" of that memory, and as an end user, you shouldn't need to care, as application developers have to flag their applications as supporting low-memory (256Mb for Windows Phone 7.x; 512Mb for Windows Phone 8) devices as a special case. Apps that aren't lower memory compatible seem to have a flag in the ...

A feature called "Quiet Hours" has been introduced into the core operating system with the 8.1 update. You can trigger quiet hours manually, or automatically with a preset time (e.g. via a calendar event). A cool feature related to quiet hours is the concept of an "Inner Circle". This is a group of contacts, e.g. your significant other, who may contact you ...

Last few months have been quite frustrating. First I was told my Lumia 920 wasn't getting Windows 10, then it got absolutely shut down from insider as well. Well, this weekend I've decided to spend some time on it, and along with some interesting links from @Indrek's answer, I finally got it. If - like me - you are looking for a short answer, then the ...

It is up to your carrier to release the update. All WP8 phones are eligible to upgrade to the latest updates. If you do not wish to wait, Microsoft has released an app where "developers" can upgrade to Update 3 early. Note that you need to be "qualified" as a developer (it doesn't take much).

Lumia phones (at least high-end ones like the 920) have a sensor that supports multiple aspect ratios. The full resolution of the sensor on the Lumia 920 is 3552x2448, which works out to just about 8.7 megapixels, but that full resolution is never used. When you set the camera app to take pictures in 4:3 aspect ratio, the full height of the sensor is used, ...

Seems like this is currently not possible. You can request features through the Windows Feedback app for Windows 10 and Windows 10 Mobile - unfortuantely the UserVoice site is being phased out right now.

There is a known production issue with the Lumia 920, which allows dust to enter the phone and cover the proximity sensor (and the front facing camera). The only reliable fix is to send the phone to Nokia for repair (warranty covers that, takes just a few days). See public news like: Nokia Lumia 920 front facing camera and proximity sensor dust fix on the ...

The only thing you really can try is doing a hard reset if this keeps happening. If that doesn't work you might need to contact the Nokia service. When you notice your phone crashed you should always be able to do a soft reset (keep holding volume down and power button until your phone restarts). This should stop your phone from overheating as well.

The recordig is being saved within your OneNote document so there's no way to access it through the file explorer (neither on the phone nor when conencting it to the pc). Unfortunately Windows Phone does not have a autostart feature. You could perhaps launch Cortana through an NFC tag.

Try these things: Reboot your phone and try to reconnect Perform a soft-reset (you wont loose any data). To do so hold your vol-down and powerbutton of your phone for 10 seconds while its powered on. IT may be that both the storage check and storage sense categories file differently and has different parameter for "System files" (may be). Also, try cleaning your phone by connecting it to PC. Clear browser cache and if that didn't help, take a backup and hard reset your Windows Phone to clear out all the data. and restore the back up.

If I remember right, the Lumia 920 is a model with a dedicated camera button - if this is held down, the camera will start. It is likely the case that whilst changing the screen "something" is either causing the button to be depressed too easily (lost spring?) or is shorting the contacts. I'd suggest checking there is the correct physical resistance on the ...

As Kolappan Nathan said in his answer, many older Lumia phones are not officially supported for the Windows 10 Mobile upgrade anymore. However, there are unofficial ways in which they can still be upgraded.
