Search for "Battery" in the Windows Store and pick up one of the free battery monitoring programs that displays a graph of you battery usage by time. (The one I use is called Battery Sense, by Vasan Jiaramaneetwesin).
Let that run in the background and try to remember what apps you run during the day. The graph will show you what rate you're using your ...
During 2013 the behaviour of Google accounts using ActiveSync/Exchange has changed - some shared and additional calendars disappear.
The GDR2/Amber update for Windows Phone 8 adds support for CardDAV and CalDAV which should fix this issue. To verify it's working...
Go to Settings > Email+Accounts
Tap on your Google account to see its settings
Go to settings. Swipe to get to application and open settings for "photos + camera". There would be a checkbox saying "Press and hold camera button to wake up the phone". Unchecking it should solve your problem.
If you go to Settings -> Battery Saver -> and turn Battery Saver on the buttons will turn off.
We need to be sure you are in the conserve mode by going to "advanced" and select "always (not recommended)".
The problem is that you phone will not automatically sync with this option in place (you can see a litle heart in the battery icon). But you can sync ...
More apps pinned doesn't pinned to the start screen does not mean more battery drain. Since you are running Windows Phone 8, there is an extra ability that pinned apps get:
If the Tile for your app is pinned to the phone’s Start screen, the
expiration time for your background agent schedule is automatically
extended to two weeks whenever your ...
Some people say that it is better to charge the battery of any mobile
device after it is fully drained. But, this is applicable to nickel
cadmium types and when it comes to lithium ion, it is not necessary to
fully discharge the battery before charging it. This is because when
the charge reduces too much, it might cause damage to the device.
Word Flow and text suggestions aren't available with all languages. To see if your current language is supported, see Windows Phone feature and service availability.
If your language is in the list, go to Settings → Keyboard, tap on your language and make sure that the "Suggest text" and "Type as I flick through letters" options are enabled.

Note: The answer below assumes you're using the Nokia Camera app. Most of it should also apply to the regular Camera app, except the part about manual focus controls.
Tapping on the screen selects that point of the scene for automatic focus and exposure adjustment - the camera app will make sure the point you tapped is in focus and properly exposed (i.e. ...
You can toggle vibrate on and off in the volume bar:
Press either of the volume keys to open the volume bar, then expand it by tapping the chevron. Tap the "VIBRATE ON"/"VIBRATE OFF" icon to toggle vibrate.

You can record sound inside the preinstalled OneNote app. If you need to you can sync the recording to your PC using the OneNote desktop application and save it there (right click -> save as...).
Windows 10 for phones will actually include a dedicated sound recording app.
A feature called "Quiet Hours" has been introduced into the core operating system with the 8.1 update. You can trigger quiet hours manually, or automatically with a preset time (e.g. via a calendar event). A cool feature related to quiet hours is the concept of an "Inner Circle". This is a group of contacts, e.g. your significant other, who may contact you ...
With no apps are running, the Windows Phone OS uses "some" of that memory, and as an end user, you shouldn't need to care, as application developers have to flag their applications as supporting low-memory (256Mb for Windows Phone 7.x; 512Mb for Windows Phone 8) devices as a special case.
Apps that aren't lower memory compatible seem to have a flag in the ...
The battery in the Lumia 920 is not user-replaceable. If you attempt to open the device and remove the battery, you may damage your phone and will void its warranty. To have the battery replaced, take your phone to an authorised Nokia service centre.

That's probably the focus assist feature, which uses the flash before actually taking the picture, to focus the scene.
To disable this in the default Camera app:
Expand the app bar by tapping on the three dots
Select "photo settings..."
Set "Focus Assist Light" to "Off"
In the Nokia Camera app:
Expand the app bar by tapping on the three dots
Last few months have been quite frustrating.
First I was told my Lumia 920 wasn't getting Windows 10, then it got absolutely shut down from insider as well.
Well, this weekend I've decided to spend some time on it, and along with some interesting links from @Indrek's answer, I finally got it.
If - like me - you are looking for a short answer, then the ...
From the GDR2 update Data Sense should be available on most phones like it was on WP7 as a separate app: counting data from the phones perspective. This can be different from asking the actual network provider for the remaining data in your account (which Data Sense can also do for providers that support it), but it should be able to get you going at least.
When the camera is running, use the cog icon in the app bar to bring up the menu. Scroll about half way through and you should see Resolution with the current option. Tap that and you can change the resolution.
Even with all the usual suspects taken care of, my 920 will sometimes get warm out of nowhere and start draining battery like crazy. I suspect some sort of firmware issue. In any case, when that happens just do a battery-pull reset -- hold the volume down and power buttons until the phone vibrates. I have to do this a couple times a week; an annoyance, but a ...
I don't know technically if it turn some hardware off but indeed if you set to a lower connection speed your phone will stop to search for this.
Imagine you are in some place here 3G is good but 4G not. If your phone has the connection speed set to 4G it will keep trying get this speed for you. But if you set to 3G as soon as it gets a 3G network its stop ...
Unfortunately, your current arrangement will not suffice in achieving the end goal. This is a classic case of the fundamental differences between *nix and Windows based systems.
Due to the different ways in which both these operating systems handle files and file names, it is currently not possible to use the Linux file system to drop files and have them ...
If you add your commute route you specify a time for the commute.

I believe it is approximately an hour, I have "My Commute" as a Live Tile.
There are a few settings you may need to check:
In Here Drive scroll down to Settings
Select "My Commute"
Make Sure "My Commute" is on.
To create a live tile of your commute (provided you have created one) click "Pin to start" (it is in text and hard to see).
Now you can start your ...
Get yourself a copy of Proshot from the app store and use it to drive the camera and that will allow you to set the image size as well as load of other features... sizes go from 640 by 480 (.3MP) up to 3246 by 2448.
Fortunately or unfortunately, this is not a problem that has to do specifically with your firmware update.
As mentioned here is a recognized bug and Microsoft is working with Nokia to address this.
Your firmware update should have enabled the "Storage Check" module- to access this you need to go into Settings and scroll to the bottom of the list.
This doesn't help you (yet), but Microsoft has an application called Data Sense. Data Sense can monitor and limit your data usage. Unfortunately for some strange reason it is only currently available on Verizon Wireless.
