I think you should first recover your phone and worry about Windows 10 later. After your phone is up again you can try the Windows Insider App and go to Release Preview Ring and see if you can get the updates. Because I think you will still be able to get the last update 10.0.10586.xxx.

Below is the location of my file as created by the Windows Device Recovery Tool. "C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Packages\Products\rm-821\RM821_3051.50009.1424.0027_RETAIL_eu_euro1_342_27_451764_prd_signed.ffu rm-821 is the phone model I have (930) so if you put your FFU in the equivilent directory the tool should pick it up

You didn't download it from right site. If you want Windows Phone Recovery Tool for your PC you can download it here. For mobile this app doesn't exist EDIT: Try to find Garmin Express on your PC and uninstall it.

Go to Control Panel and in the search box type "proxy settings". Or you can navigate to Control Panel -> Internet Settings -> Proxy settings -> connection. In that tab check the "automatically...[something]" checkbox and uncheck the checkbox under proxy settings and hit done. Now your problem should be solved.

You download your Lumia 520 mobile firmware according to your mobile manufacturer name which is in Setting -> Extras -> Extras & info. Download only .ffu file According to your device. Then download the Windows Device Recovery Tool, install it on your PC and then follow the below given instructions. Now open CMD as administrator Type the following 64-...

Try the following, Switch off your phone. Run the Windows Device Recovery tool. Click My device is not detected button. Now connect the phone to PC. At this stage my phone got switched on and remained at the logo splash screen. It will not restart automatically. Click on Install Software button to proceed with installation.

The only thing I can think of is to get a (usb) card reader and try to run the recovery tool then - this worked for me. It won't work connecting your phone directly, though. In the meantime I'd recommend removing the SD card from your phone to prevent your photos from being overwritten with different data.

I FIXED THE PROBLEM NOW. One of the first things i did when getting my phone was turning off automatic updates. after i saw the problem i did a system restore, that fixed it temporarily but the problem came back. but after turning on automatic updates and updating and restarting the store works fine now. this might not help everybody, but hopefully some.

You can download the Upgrade Advisor from the store to see if your phone can install the last version of Windows 10 Mobile. If it is possible, the update will start, if it is not possible you will be stuck in windows phone 8/8.1

I found the Nokia Software Updater for Retail (Version 4.3.2) to be a good alternative in case the Windows Device Recovery Tool does not work as intended (obviously for Nokia phones only). You can download the tool here, the restore process is fairly straightforward. As for your specific issue, it seems this is a problem on Microsofts side as you have ...

Having gone through such stage (bricked my Lumia 1020 about 2 months ago). I know the longing to get things working again. You wish to rollback in time. In my case, I was 'again' upgrading my device to Windows 10 Mobile. Using WPInternal's because Windows Phone 8.xx.xxx has almost reached the end of its journey. I'm missing so many awesome apps which are ...

Lumia Software Recovery Tool is very outdated. You should be using the current version of the software, which is the Windows Device Recovery Tool. I've had good success using this tool with a wide range of devices, including a 925. Nonetheless, be aware that it can only fix stuff that boils down to code/data problems (bad firmware, file system corruption, ...

It's resolved. The windows device recovery tool is downloading with resumes so I tried again and again whenever the download stopped and somehow finished the download and after reinstalling I am able to revert back to 8.1.

I had this problem once but was able to solve it using the Windows Device Recovery Tool - make sure always you download the latest ROM version for your device. If this doesn't work then your only option is to contact the manufacturers service.
